Kaitlyn's Shopping Experience

Here is Kaitlyn shopping with Mommy and Nana. Nana couldn't resist buying this hat after we put it on her and she looked so cute! She also bought the matching coat...pictures to come of the whole outfit.

Kaitlyn in Her New Jeans

Here is Kaitlyn with her daddy. They look more and more alike every day. Kaitlyn is eating solids now and it seems like she's gaining weight. Sweet potatoes are her favorite so far, but the applesauce mixed in with her oatmeal this morning was a big hit. She spends a lot of time rolling around on the floor and is starting to plant her feet and push her butt up in the air to try to move forward. She is still as happy as can be. No teeth yet, but that's ok because she's cute without them. I think her first words will be coming soon...they might be "hi kitty". She loves the cat and the cat loves her. She gets very excited to see the cat and the dog up close.

More Pictures From Buffalo

The first picture is of Kaitlyn and Aunt Amy. The next one is Kaitlyn and Pappa on his birthday - we won't mention how old he is!!! The next picture is with Nanna, then Great Uncle John, Great Uncle Pete, and Uncle Joe. Kaitlyn is happy with everyone and can't wait to see you all again soon!

Baby in a Headband

Kaitlyn had her 4 month check-up yesterday (actually 4 and a half months). She weighs 12 pounds 2 ounces and is 25 and a quarter inches long. She is in the 75th percentile for height, 25th for weight, and her head size is in the 50th percentile. She is doing well...rolling over and talking a lot. She started eating rice cereal this past weekend and will soon start on baby food in a week or two. She sleeps through the night about 95% of the time and has been for a few months. Kaitlyn's next trip to Buffalo is coming up soon...next week to be exact. Hopefully we can get her to recite her ABC's by then...

Maybe this will fit her next year...

Laughing at Day Care

Kaitlyn absolutely loves day care and the teachers (our neighbors). I get good reports every day and when I go to pick her up she is always laughing! When she comes home in the evening she is very tired and usually goes to bed by 8pm. She sleeps until about 6am, which gives mommy and daddy a chance to spend time together and sleep through the night. Kaitlyn is a good girl so far!

Secret Footage from the Big Day

Here is a clip from the delivery room. I copied Sarah's idea because it was such a good one. I actually got discouraged by trying to download videos previously because it took so long, but with my upgraded cable internet I don't have to wait an hour! Hooray - now you will all see Kaitlyn live...well, in another video.

It took a while, but mommy got used to the farm animals and actually fed the Emu (Star) on the last day. She didn't even mind that Ozzie the horse was so close to her (actually, she did because she is very afraid of horses!) Daddy is seen riding Cadillac Jack and Aunt Amy is petting his nose.

My First Boat Ride

Kaitlyn took her first boat ride in Kentucky - on the Paintsville Lake. She was required to wear a life preserver at all times while on board. Kaitlyn let us know that she would not be following the rules and the life preserver was taken off halfway through the journey. She complained that it was somewhat restricting.

My First Pet

While visiting Uncle Jim, Kaitlyn got her first pet - she named him Yum Yum. Uncle Jim will be feeding Yum Yum and bathing him regularly. His first meal was potatoes and chocolate cake. He has a friend so he will not get lonely - Kevin Bacon is his name. Kaitlyn is very excited to be able to taste Yum Yum when Uncle Jim brings him to Minneapoolis in a cooler for Thanksgiving.

Kaitlyn's Trip to Kentucky

Kaitlyn went on her first road trip last week. She went to Kentucky to visit her Uncle Jim - we like to call him Farmer Jim. She took mommy, daddy, and Zack with her on this 16 hour journey. She slept most of the way there and back with only a few stops needed for feeding and farting.

My Trip to Buffalo

I went to Buffalo recently - Kaitlyn's first adventure on an airplane. She did great with one exception. On the plane ride there she was wide awake for the whole trip...2 hours. She was looking all around at new sites and hearing new noises. I thought it was veyr cute that she was so alert. I did not, however, think it was so cute when we got to mom's house and she screamed for 40 minutes like I've never heard her scream before. Apparently, she got overstimulated...this caused her to get stressed out and resulted in a lot of gas. I felt very bad for her...it was not a good start to our trip.

The next day was better as well as the rest of the days to follow. We had a lot of visitors, which was very exhausting. Kaitlyn would get cranky in the evening and only wanted to be held by mommy. It's nice to be needed!!

The plane ride back was very different. I put a cover over the baby and she slept the whole way back so she was rested for daddy when we arrived in Minneapolis.
