Second Ultrasound
This picture indicates that it is a girl. The view is as if the baby is sitting on a piece of clear glass and we could see her from below the glass. The two protrusions are her little legs and the little balls at the end are her feet on the right. On the left you can see 3 lines between the legs...these three lines indicate a girl.
This picture is hard for me to figure out what's going on, but the nurse snapped the shot because you can see the baby's mouth open. The baby is face down and the head is on the right. You can see a black triangle shape which is just fluid. The head is in the southeast part of the "triangle" and the open mouth is the small black triangle straight south. If I had the ability to put an arrow in there I would. That's my best description.

So cute
Look at you getting plumper as the weeks pass. I can't believe that in a few short months you will never get any good sleep again. When I get there in a few weeks I'm going to spend all my time touching your belly and telling my nephew stories about you and Mike. Then after we find out what the sex of the baby really is we're going to go on our first "Aunt Amy" shopping spree together, the three of us.
I am so excited!!!
I am so excited!!!

The things you realize...
My sister moved far away from home right after she graduated from college and because we are both so busy with our lives, sometimes we've gone months without talking to each other. When she told me two months ago that she was pregnant, things changed almost instantly. Now if I don't talk to her every day, I feel like something is missing in my life. The conversations we've had over the last two months have ranged from baby names, to car seats, to lifelong decisions that we have read about in the parenting and psychology magazines.
My head fully realizes that this is NOT MY BABY, but my heart is screaming that I will love this child as much as my sister and her husband will. I just want to brief my sister and her husband on what this could possibly mean to them.
First, you will be receiving an iPod for the baby with many different types of music. I think I'm going to go with a little bit of Eagles, some older Springsteen, a little bit of Beatles, a song or two from Zeppelin and Floyd, some David Gray, a little dose of Prince and of course a whole lot of Bon Jovi. I am expecting you to play that music for the baby every night when you are trying to get him to sleep. Occasionally, it will be alright if you sing some of those songs to the baby, preferably "Wanted Dead or Alive," "Always," "I'll be there for you," and "Bed of Roses." This little exercise is so that the baby will know what I am doing when I try to put him to sleep when I get to watch him for the weekend.
Second, I know that neither of you are readers, but as not readers you both know how difficult it is for a child that isn't a reader. Soon I will be adding to your children's book collection. Classics such as Corduroy, The Hungry Caterpillar, If you give a Pig a Pancake, Goodnight Moon and Where the Wild things Are. If you read the baby a book every night, even before it is born, then maybe two non-readers can have a child that is a reader.
Also, I will be sending the baby its first stuffed animal. I'm not sure exactly what type of animal it is going to be, but I will have a picture of me airbrushed on to the toy's tummy. This is because I am not going to be able to be there to see the baby every day until you move back to Buffalo and I don't want him screaming or shying away from me when he does see me. So my theory is, if his favorite toy has a picture of me on it, he will get to know me vicariously.
I realize all this isn't as exciting as silly videos of mommy and daddy welcoming the baby or having fun with the new video camera, but really how much video can the baby actually watch. If any of this is unacceptable to you, let me know, because like I said, excited Aunts can really overstep.
I miss both of you very much and I can't wait to see you at the end of November.

Dad's Perspective...
Just read Dawn's blog and decided to add to the fun and give a typical day experience with the mother-to-be. Starting when she wakes up. She goes into the bathroom, uses bathroom, looks at belly in mirror, then goes to get something to eat. Goes back to bathroom and then back to bed. Hits snooze three times, gets up, goes to bathroom, gets something to eat, looks at self in mirror and then takes a shower. Once out of the shower, uses bathroom, looks at self in mirror, puts on sweats, then works from her office at home. At this point I leave for work. She then sends me emails of the baby at work, tells me how much she is eating, then gets dressed for work and leaves the house. She meets clients for lunch, works hard the rest of the day, then comes home and makes dinner. We eat, make dumb videos with the new video camera for the baby (which is too much fun) and most likely will never make it to the baby when he/she is older. Then we eat dessert, go to bed and watch tv, and talk about the baby. Dawn goes to the bathroom six more times throughout the nite and then morning comes. I weigh myself and have gained more weight again than Dawn. I swear, she gets up, walks past me to use the bathroom, weighs herself, looks in mirror at belly, then tells me I have a problem. She leaves bathroom, I look at my belly in mirror, and I wonder if I am pregnant. And this cycle repeats day after day....

Block #5 is on its' way...
We are really excited about having a baby! Mike talks to my belly every night and sings songs to it. Yeah, right! I make him say hello and goodbye to the baby every once in a while. I think when the belly gets bigger he might start singing. Anyways...we've been video taping ourselves so the baby will be able to see how wierd we are. We like to watch our videos on tv over and over again. We really are weird! When we actually tape something worth watching, we will post it on this website. Grandma A seems to be very excited about her first grandchild. Afterall, she keeps buying outfits and books and college funds for the baby. Her and Peter are expecting a girl. Aunt Amy is more excited than anyone. She spends her days at Target buying baby clothes and her nights on baby websites finding things like Bon Jovi t-shirts in size 0-3 months.
